Treatments

Appointment

In addition to more conventional modalities, Animal Healing Arts uses a variety of unique therapies in the care and treatment of your pet. Here are just a few of them:

Ozone Therapy

While we no longer offer onsite treatments, parents can administer basic ozone therapies to their pets at home. For information on purchasing your own equipment, see our Ozone Equipment page. If you live in the McEwen, TN area, we also offer a rental program so you can give the equipment a try. We provide full instruction and training on how to provide basic home ozone treatments.

Ozone therapy is fundamentally about providing more oxygen for the body to use and helping the tissues use the oxygen more efficiently. It is so effective because oxygen is an essential nutrient for every cell in the body.

All disease processes start with inflammation, and inflammation will always be enhanced in a low oxygen environment. Ozone will help support healing with any type of condition, either bacterial, viral, degenerative (arthritis, senior pets), autoimmune disease, and, of course cancer. For cancer patients in particular, this process boosts the immune system by strengthening the cells that do the work of eliminating damaged cells from the body. Because cancer cells thrive in a low-oxygen environment, ozone will directly help eliminate them.

Ozone is not a magic bullet, and we still need to address diet, detox and other supportive supplements, but it is definitely a valuable tool.

*New* – We now offer Ozone Therapy ONLY consultations as a service to O3Vets clients. If you are working with O3Vets to purchase your own ozone equipment, and have questions about the therapy more suited to a veterinarian who has been using this therapy for over 10 years, then you may be interested in this consultation. Vaccine Alternatives

Nosodes
Nosodes are a type of homeopathic vaccination that will not cause the potential side-effects of traditional vaccines.  Nosodes are made using exudates or discharges from an infected animal.  These substances are diluted to a degree such that there is no real biological substance remaining.  There are no toxic preservatives or carriers that can cause the reactions seen when traditional vaccines are given.

Nosodes are given on the mucous membranes of the mouth which is a more natural route of exposure than traditional vaccine. When an unnatural substance such as a vaccination is injected into the body, there is often no established pathway for the body to process it.  This causes an inflammatory response that can result in disease elsewhere in the body.  These reactions are not necessarily immediate, but can occur up to several months/years later, often becoming chronic or recurrent (sometimes on the anniversary date of the vaccine). Reactions can include: skin and gut inflammation, auto-immune disease, seizures, and cancer.

Unlike traditional vaccinations, nosodes can also be used effectively in the face of exposure. Traditional vaccines are only effective if given in advance. This is a huge advantage, especially when treating very contagious diseases such as kennel cough.

Titer testing
This is a simple blood test that measures antibody levels against certain diseases that pets are typically vaccinated against. If you pet has adequate antibodies, then there is no need to vaccinate.

Ketogenic Diets
In our experience, a species appropriate, low-glycemic diet is crucial to your pet’s good health and longevity. A ketogenic diet trains the cells in the body to burn fat as a fuel instead of glucose. Since fat is a more efficient energy source, cells in the body will be healthier, and cells that require glucose for energy, such as cancer cells, will suffer.

If you want to give your pet the best chance at a long, healthy, disease-free life, try a ketogenic diet. You have to feed them anyway, so why not give their bodies the best building blocks for a healthy life?

CBD (cannabidiol)
The use of medical cannabis has grown dramatically in recent years, amid a storm of amazing therapeutic benefits and controversy. The use of cannabis as a recreational drug has unfortunately overshadowed many of the potential health benefits of the hemp plant in both humans and pets. The recent Farm Bill passed by congress legalized hemp, separating it from cannabis plants (which have a much higher THC content). This opened the door for more open conversation in the veterinary community concerning the use of treating pets with CBD.

We are just starting to scratch the surface in learning about the potential benefits of CBD and the amazing hemp plant. Among the conditions we have treated with success to date are: seizures, anxiety, cancer, intestinal distress, pain, arthritis and other inflammatory diseases. The truth is that this plant is so safe to use that it is reasonable to try it in a variety of conditions to see if there is a beneficial effect. There is literally no toxic dose. We’ve found that using a full spectrum hemp product is essential to providing not only CBD, but other valuable constituents of the hemp plant.
